11 Players Who Stole A Living From Celtic

1. Rafael Scheidt

Signed From: Gremio Fee: £5 million!! When your name sounds so much like a rude word you probably have to work extra hard as a footballer: just ask Danny Shittu, or Rod Fanni. Sadly Rafael Scheidt clearly didn't get that memo. Signed for a massive £5m by the ill-conceived management "dream team" of John Barnes and Kenny Dalglish, the player found himself playing for a new manager almost immediately, and failed to justify even a tiny slither of his transfer fee. He was plagued by injury in a first season that saw him start just one game, and he was sent out on loan to Corinthians for two years by Martin O'Neill who comically apparently told the player that "I like footballers who are not like you... I like footballers who play well." Though he expressed his desire to be a success in Scotland after his second loan spell at Corinthians, he no longer met work permit requirements, and Celtic were forced to pay off his contract and let him go. For good reason, the Guardian named him as the second worst transfer in football history in 2001. Which other rejects and flops deserve to be on this list? Share your own picks below.
