2. Sir Alex Ferguson's Retirement Speech After Winning The Title
On May 8, 2013, the football world was both shocked and saddened by the news that Manchester United's legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson was going to retire at the end of the season. United's manager of 26 years, fans never dared envisage a time where Ferguson was not at the helm of the Old Trafford club and it seemed to most that he would somehow be there forever. But age and waning health took its toll on the Scot, who finally stepped aside from management - but not before overseeing United's procession to the Premier League title - the Red Devil's 20th overall and Ferguson's 13th of an amazing, unparalleled career. United fans were weeping into their hankies when Sir Alex made his farewell speech after his side's barmy 5-5 draw with West Brom on May 19, (fittingly the first result of its kind in the Premier League - another record for Ferguson) and brought the house down with his touching words at the end of his 1,500th and final game in charge of the champions. Ferguson left at the top, following United's winning of the league by 11 points after wrestling the title away from 'noisy neighbours' Manchester City.
