If the iconic black and white stripes are the image of Newcastle playing at home, then there's a strong argument that green and yellow should be the image of Newcastle playing away. The colour combination featured on six separate occasions for the club dating back to 1967, but on its last official outing Umbro struck gold. Not immediately obvious unless you inspect it closely, the shirt is styled with a pattern of faint green triangles over the solid bright yellow. The collar details contrast this with the yellow stitched into the green, and the shorts were that shimmering fabric kids across the land got electric shocks from during PE. Not seen in similar circumstances since, a return to the classic green and yellow away kit is long overdue for Newcastle.
