A career dominated by incredible success and fierce criticism, two particularly controversial incidents stand out as synonymous with Chelsea captain John Terry. In 2010 he was found to have had a four-month extramarital affair with Vanessa Perroncel, a former girlfriend of teammate Wayne Bridge. Although Perroncel maintains that the relationship never happened, Bridge publicly refused to shake Terry's hand before their first meeting since his transfer to Manchester City. In 2012 Terry was accused of calling QPR defender Anton Ferdinand a "f****** black c***", found guilty, and fined £220,000. He was also given a four match ban, a decision many found to be incredibly lenient.
