20 Players Rangers Must Regret Signing

12. Emilson Cribari

Rangers may ply their trade in the utterly-average Scottish League system, but they still offer a lot to fledgling players. The chance to play in front of 50,000 at Ibrox each fortnight, as well as experience world class training facilities and the overwhelming show of support from one of the most passionate fan bases on the globe must be difficult to knock back. A player who wanted to experience all of this was the Brazilian Emilson Cribari, who signed on after the Glasgow club had been forced to drop down into the Third Division, which is the fourth tier of the Scottish professional game. In 2012, Cribari, who had formerly played for the likes of Lazio and Napoli in Serie A, let the ink dry on a new contract with Rangers. It wasn't hard to see why Ally McCoist felt Cribari could contribute, but he was agonisingly slow, even against part-time opposition. Surely a better option would have been to give a young player the chance to prove himself, and work his way into the Rangers team, instead of relying on someone who was quite obviously coming to the end of their career?
