20 Players Rangers Must Regret Signing

5. Kevin Kyle

When Rangers expressed their interest in signing Kevin Kyle in 2012, the former Sunderland player and Scottish international striker told his wife that he'd "be cheeky" and ask for £500 per week. Realising that Rangers had been put down into the bottom tier of Scottish football, Kyle theorised that the club still had better resources than many others in the country, but still thought he would surely be knocked back with his request. Instead, Ally McCoist - without asking the forward his demands - put a single-season deal worth $4,000 per week on the table. Only a mug would have piped up at that point to put forward his earlier suggestion, and Kyle signed without hesitation, likely taking his spouse out for a pricey meal later that evening! Quite what Rangers were thinking here boggles the mind. Never the most fit of players, Kevin Kyle only turned out on 8 different occasions for the team during the 2012-2013 campaign, scoring a grand total of 3 goals, making him yet another failure for the Ibrox club. At least he was honest enough to claim he was lucky to have ever played for Rangers after leaving, but why McCoist offered him the kind of money he did is very confusing.
