20 Worst Ever Football Misses

14. Fernando Torres

http://youtu.be/TzzICUVY6F0 Fernando Torres officially became the most expensive player in Premier League history with his transfer from Liverpool to Chelsea for a stonking £50 million. With such a burden of his valuation hanging over his head, he must have been desperate not to join the ranks of Robinho and Shevchenko as famous expensive flops. And in a game against Manchester United, he was determined to make the headlines. He succeeded, but not in the way he had hoped. After rounding the helpless keeper, his shot brought a United fan to tears as his ball smacked off his face in the crowd. I would consider myself worth around £50 million if that is what it buys you, but I'd probably just score it like any average person. Luckily Torres' career has been mostly up since that point, but then again, it could hardly have been any worse.

13. Jon Dahl Tomasson

http://youtu.be/QSY8hbmsNFM Jon Dahl Tomasson could probably launch a worldwide magic tour for his ability to take an easy goal and make it disappear before your very eyes. In his career it got to a point where people would be disappointed if he scored because they wanted to witness another classic display of ineptitude in front of goal. Out of his numerous misses though, this one for Ajax takes some beating, as not only does he manage to lift a ball over the crossbar from about a yard away, he did it whilst laying down. With the velocity of the ball and the position he touched the ball from, how he managed to produce the angle required was virtually unfeasible. Tomasson's capability for missing the simplest of chances would easily win him Denmark's Got Talent.
