12. Evangelos Mantzios
http://youtu.be/WrxdQtKvuAE It's the Greek Cup Final, and with your team trailing 2-1 in the dying seconds of the game, you have the goal gaping in front of you. The keeper has been taken out of play, and the chance of rescuing your team and draw a severe psychological blow to your opponents going into extra time is at your feet. Men like Sylvan Wiltord, Teddy Sheringham and Steven Gerrard have made names for themselves for saving their side at the climax of competition finals, and Evangelos Mantzios had the chance to join that pantheon of greats. However, he fluffed his lines in spectacular fashion. Perhaps he was unsure of his ability to score (rightly so), and thought he could make the incident look so much like a pass-back that the referee would have no choice but to call for a free kick. 11. Chris Iwelumo
http://youtu.be/RqkShPKgAbw You only get one opportunity to make a first impression. Chris Iwelumo had many of those in his career, and some were good, some were bad, but none were more memorable than his international debut for Scotland. An international debut is even more pressurising than in your club, as more than your own fans you are there to carry the hopes of a nation on your shoulders. The Scottish were scratching and clawing in desperate attempts to qualify for the 2010 World Cup, and a victory against Norway was a must. Brought on in the second half with the score at 0-0, Iwelumo made his international bow with the focus on becoming an instant hero with a winner. However, when the chance fell to him, Iwelumo defined his international career by missing an open goal from three yards out. After that blunder, he was never going to become the next Denis Law, and another potential answer to Scotland's problems fell to the wayside.
