20 Worst Squads In FIFA World Cup History
16. Scotland (1954)
1954 generally isn’t the first finals that comes to mind when people think of the World Cup, but it certainly included some underrated matches and crazy scorelines. Some of these scores included Hungary beating West Germany 8-3, West Germany beating Turkey 7-2 and Hungary clocking in one of the biggest World Cup wins ever against South Korea with a 9-0 thrashing.
But sadly for Scotland, they were not excluded from this list of insane, humiliating scorelines. Drawn into Group 3 alongside Czechoslovakia, Uruguay and Austria, Scotland suffered a 0-1 loss to Austria in their opening game, setting them up for 0-7 demolition at the hands of Uruguay three days later.
These were the only two games Scotland completed as they were not required to play Czechoslovakia, meaning they were one of only three teams in the tournament who failed to score, and finished with a -8 goal difference.
