4 Ways Aberdeen Could Actually Challenge Celtic Next Season

3. They Have To Start The Season Well And Maintain Consistency

A bad start to the league for Aberdeen, who are not institutionalised match winners like Celtic, will almost certainly kill off any hope that they'll get near us. If after 4 or 5 games they are more than 5 points adrift, then its probably game over already. Consistency comes from team morale, lack of injuries and team fitness, and most important of all - versatility with tactics. Tactical depth is something that Scottish football on-the-whole lacks severely. Most of the teams except Celtic only have one way of playing, and it's easy to do your homework on them. For Celtic, most of the teams they face greet them with a very deep line of defence, 5 in midfield and one man up front. It's almost a given that their game plan is to defend for their lives and hit Celtic on hopeful breaks. However, Aberdeen showed the rest how to attack us and still win. They did their homework on us and managed to make a fool out of us, twice. Aberdeen lack a deep squad, so versatile tactics combined with good team fitness would prove to be a mammoth task for all of next season, but don't rule them out. Every game should be thought out and played like a cup final. Every 3 points is a trophy with Aberdeen's name on it, and every draw is a disappointing runner's-up medal. This sort of mentality could help them immensely.

As a recent university graduate and a huge supporter of Celtic FC, what better way to use my inevitable free time to write about my favourite football team? I'll cover most things that the supporters are talking about at the moment, which includes things that directly and indirectly involve the club. At times I may also stray into matters concerning English clubs.
