5 NFL Quarterbacks Who Will Improve In 2017 (And 5 Who Won't)
7. Up - Carson Wentz
Carson Wentz was a surprising rookie success story last season. He threw for 6 touchdowns and 0 interceptions in his first three games, all of which the Philadelphia Eagles won. However, as his team's already shoddy offense fell apart, he hit a rookie wall and his stats plummeted.
From Week 4 to the end of the season, the Eagles went 4-9 and Wentz threw only 10 more touchdowns against 14 interceptions. No cause for alarm: those numbers aren't atypical of a rookie QB, especially not one with a lackluster offense, in one of the NFL's best divisions.
Fortunately for Wentz, the Eagles added to their offensive repertoire this offseason, drafting several young, talented wide receivers and running backs, including former San Diego State RB Donnel Pumphrey, the NCAA Division I all-time leader in rushing yards.
Most importantly, they signed former Chicago Bears wide-out Alshon Jeffery in free agency. When healthy, Jeffery is a bona fide Pro Bowl caliber player and if he can stay on the field, he'll be a huge asset for the Eagles and a great, consistent target for their sophomore signal caller.
