5. Liverpool Will Be Driven On By Last Season's Heartache
Although Liverpool produced a season way beyond anyone's expectations last season, including 11 wins in a row at one point, it's still impossible the deny that their season ultimately ended in miserable fashion. With the title in their grasps with just three games remaining, the loss to Chelsea at Anfield proved fatal, and City nicked in to win their second title in three seasons. This season those Reds players, particularly the more experienced, long-term stars like Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel, will be chomping at the bit to avenge the heartbreak of 2013/14. They will travel to Manchester on Monday wanting to prove a point, and they will be desperate to show the world that they are not going away this season. Manuel Pellegrini's side can sometimes be guilty of being a little lackadaisical, and they looked undercooked in last weekend's 2-0 win over Newcastle. Although the score would suggest otherwise, they were under the cosh for large periods of the second-half, and looked vulnerable. If Liverpool go to the Etihad and play the confident, fluent football they did last season, with City underestimating them at the same time, they could definitely earn all three points. That, combined with gaining revenge for last season, could well prove key.
