5 Reasons Liverpool Will Beat Man City

4. Improved Squad Depth Compared To Last Season

When City beat Liverpool 2-1 at the Etihad last December, a big reason for it was that the Reds eventually ran out of steam after dominating the majority of proceedings. They simply didn't have the quality to bring on from the substitutes' bench- their three attacking options were Luis Alberto, Victor Moses and Iago Aspas- and instead they had to rely on the increasingly weary Coutinho, Sterling and Suarez. The squad depth that Rodgers has added this summer has been great to see, with seven players bought in, excluding Dicock Origi, who has gone back on loan to Lille, and the incoming Mario Balotelli. If things aren't quite going Liverpool's way on Monday night, with changes needed, the Northern Irishman will have so much more options available. Assuming they don't start, the likes of Emre Can, Lazar Markovic and Rickie Lambert are all players with the ability to change the game one way or another, and there is a slim possibility that the returning Adam Lallana could even make the squad too. City's squad depth is a huge reason for their success, with top, top players coming on for them when opponents' legs are tiring, and Liverpool have that too now. It could prove pivotal during Monday's showdown.
