5 Reasons Spurs Will Still Qualify For The Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are currently undergoing a somewhat up and down season. It's been a season of transition for the Lilywhites, following the world record sale of Gareth Bale (and the sale of other members of the first team squad including Tom Huddlestone, Scott Parker, Steven Caulker and Clint Dempsey) and the acquiring of seven new players in Paulinho, Roberto Soldado, Nacer Chadli, Etienne Capoue, Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Vlad Chiriches. The club have also recently parted ways with Portuguese coach Andre Villas-Boas - notably after a 5-0 home capitulation against Liverpool - and appointed former Technical Director (and indeed former player) Tim Sherwood as Head Coach on a two season contract. As a result, the season has indeed been turbulent and many are seeing Spurs as the perennial underachievers they've been for many years. But I don't necessarily see it that way. The first half of the season was never going to be smooth with so much change taking place and, now that we're officially one game in to the second half of the league season, Spurs should look to push on and move up the table. They've certainly started the second half of the league season well - a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford against Manchester United is a great result in any team's book - but a subsequent 2-0 defeat against arch-rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the FA Cup dampened the mood somewhat. Coming up next for Spurs is a home tie against newly-promoted (and relegation-threatened) Crystal Palace - a match they will be expected to win - and a victory against the Eagles could put Spurs as high as fourth (if other results go their way). So is it all doom and gloom? I don't think so. On that note, here are five reasons why Spurs will still qualify for the Champions League...
