5 Reasons Spurs Will Still Qualify For The Champions League

5. The New Players Should Be Settled In By Now

As we enter the second half of the season, the excuse that the new players are still settling in becomes less and less viable. Players of the quality and value of those that Spurs signed in the summer - and players being paid as much as they are - should be able to perform to the best of their abilities after half a season at a football club. At this point, there really is no excuse for under-performing and, if indeed they start to show the kind of abilities they are clearly capable of, Spurs could begin to rapidly climb the table from this point going forward. An on-form Roberto Soldado should be providing a hell of a lot more goals than he has so far, while Paulinho seems to be improving by the game and looks as though he could be fantastic in the second half of the season (once he returns from injury) after an unbelievable performance against Stoke City. Vlad Chiriches, if he can grasp the fact that he can't dawdle on the ball in the Premier League, looks like he could become a rock solid centre half after his Man of the Match performance at Old Trafford and if Erik Lamela starts to show the kind of form he showed for Roma (after an understandably difficult change in culture for such a young man) then he could prove to be worth the club record fee that Spurs paid for him. Likewise, Christian Eriksen (who seems to be hitting form), Nacer Chadli and Etienne Capoue have all been playing within themselves so far this season and they could have a big part to play in the second half of it. Essentially, if Spurs' seven summer acquisitions start to hit form, good things could start to happen at White Hart Lane.
