5 Reasons Why MMA Will Surpass Boxing

4. Multiple Fighting Styles

Boxing is the art of striking with the fists and at its purest rightfully lives up to its nickname of the sweet science. Fighters such as Pernell Whitaker or Floyd Mayweather can literally amaze audiences with their skill and ability to hit and not be hit. Likewise fighters such as Roberto Duran or Ricky Hatton can confound belief with their courage and relentless pressure in the ring. However these traits of skill and courage are in abundance in the world of MMA also and further to this in MMA we can see what happens when experts of different forms of combat face off against one another. MMA fighters hail from a range of disciplines whether that be jiu-jitsu, wrestling, boxing, muay thai, karate or any other effective martial art. It is this which makes MMA so intriguing and though fighters are becoming better rounded in all aspects of the sport most generally have a primary martial art they rely upon. Styles make fights and at its purest an MMA bout represents a chess match of beautiful brutality as highly skilled martial artists try and impose their will and use their skill set to dominate their opponent.
