It is also vital that you are on top form in every game you play in - you will likely need to score in most games you play in too. So this is no easy feat to perform. Previous winners include Brazil's Ronaldo and Germany's Klose - Messi would not be in bad company at all if he were to grab the golden boot. Despite having played excellently in the World Cups Messi has featured in, he is yet to score a single goal in the competition so perhaps this is all just a bit of a pipe dream. But who knows? Maybe the forward will take the prize in Brazil in two years time.
