To become a top footballer it takes more than just skill and goal scoring prowess. Leadership and maturity is also vital. These are qualities that Lionel Messi, without question, acquires so it would be no problem for him to take on the responsibility of being a captain - which he previously has done for Barcelona. He is also the current captain for Argentina. If the Argentine was to become an established captain for Barcelona as well as already leading on the international stage for his country his credentials to become the greatest ever football player would take a healthy boost. Becoming the established captain at the club where he has spent his whole career, or any other top club for that matter, would not only be extremely honorable but it would help him grow as a player. Messi may have a problem prying the armband from Puyol's grasp though.
