5 Times Manchester City Got It Massively Wrong In The Transfer Market
2. Wilfried Bony
It's hard to think of a more pointless signing during City's time as Premier League hitters than Bony.
He simply never looked comfortable playing for such a big club with increased pressure on him, and despite his stunning form for Swansea the season before, Bony never once looked to be fully fit at the Etihad.
Whose fault that was is open to debate, and Bony will no doubt cite injuries for his failure to compete at City.
The big Ivorian cost the club just shy of £30m back in 2015 and it was hoped he could add some presence and power to a forward line which by reputation was one built around more nimble and pacey players.
As it turned out, hope was as much as City got out of Bony.
He hit only six Premier League goals during two miserable - and expensive - seasons at the Etihad, and he was soon shipped back to Swansea in a loan deal before eventually moving back permanently.
