2. Bethe Correia
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJJXQL7KeIw Who would have thought a certain hand gesture could generate so much interest? Bethe Correia was just another female fighter, who was trying to make her mark in the sport. She beat fan favourite Julie Kedzie in a lacklustre split decision, which led to Kedzie retiring. Then she beats Jessamyn Duke in another lacklustre affair. People are essentially sitting on their hands through her fights, until she puts up a three-finger pose after her win over Duke. It was a shot directed towards the four horse-women that she had defeated one of their members. That received Rouseys attention, as she takes great pride in her team. It also doesn't help that Rousey is notorious for being
somewhat of a sore loser from her season coaching The Ultimate Fighter. Correia needs to show more as a fighter to justify a title shot. As fun as it may be with this storyline, a lot of work needs to be done. Correia will be fighting another one of the four horse-women in Shayna Baszler. In a division lacking contenders, stranger things have happened in determining a title shot.
On the Fighter & The Kid podcast, Rousey was open to facing her if she can get by Baszler. Im still waiting to see more from Correia inside the octagon, but she certainly has garnered some much-needed attention.
