5 Winners And 5 Losers From The Premier League Opening Weekend

Which clubs and players came out the best from the Premier League's opening weekend?

Our wait is at long-last finally over as the Barclay's Premier League returned to our television screens over the weekend. Following a three-month break period punctuated by the World Cup, England's 20 topflight teams once again took to the field of play between Saturday afternoon and Monday evening. There has been much hype over how each side would fare this season with Manchester United and their new manager Louis van Gaal looking to bounce back following their seventh-placed finish in 2013-14 and "noisy neighbours" City hoping to retain their title. Then there are the three promoted clubs with Burnley, Leicester and QPR vying to avoid the dreaded drop zone. The Premier League table at this stage of the campaign bears of course very little indication as to where each of these teams will lie come next May and to roll out an age-old cliché - the season is a long one. However, the early points on the board represent shots fired if little else and stakes have been made. With a battery of fixtures done and dusted and 37 left to go, already we've witnessed the agony and the ecstasy of defeat and glory, and here we take a look at five winners and five losers from the Premier League's opening weekend, including our team of the week. First, we look at the winners. Click 'Next' to get started.
