6 Best & 6 Worst Newcastle Managers Since 1975

1. Gordon Lee

Much like Alan Pardew's apparent agenda to strip away any players with power in the dressing room - Nolan, Barton, Harper - or who question his authority - Enrique, Be Arfa, Marveaux - Gordon Lee's agenda as Newcastle boss was to rip out the heart, and indeed much of the talent, of the club. He might have been a big part of the club getting to the League Cup final, and ultimately getting into the top six in Division One, but Lee ripped the best parts of the team out, selling Hibbit, MacDonald and Howard, and bringing in replacements who weren't as technically gifted, but who would be better cogs in an efficient, uninspiring machine. To add insult to injury, Lee jumped ship when Everton offered him a bigger salary, and unfortunately, Newcastle replaced him with Richard Dinnis, as a direct result of his interference with player power. So what about the best managers? A harder prospect than you might actually imagine...
