6 Things We Learned From Everton's Draw With Newcastle United

2. Everton's Attacking Depth Is Enviable

During the first half, Everton looked exceptional from multiple positions on the pitch, attacking from deep through the marauding Leighton Baines - who was easily the man of the first-half - with support from Tony Hibbert on the other flank with less outstanding results, and excellent central play from Marouane Fellaini, Nikica Jelavic and Kevin Mirallas, who combined on multiple occasions to success. Though they are a team famed for their industry - which is not a bad thing by any means - Everton have a great squad of players, who share an enviable relationship on the pitch, especially in the left-hand link-up between Steven Pienaar and Baines who made the first half a torrid time for both Sylvain Marveaux and James Perch. Marveaux may have failed to track Baines' run for the first goal rather criminally, but the work and movement of the two players should not be undervalued at all. David Moyes has crafted a team of industrious players who combine to be greater than the sum of their parts, with a couple of exceptional talents who he will be lucky to keep hold of in coming seasons on current form, and the way he gets them to play from deep, and attack and defend in numbers is to be highly commended.
