Jermaine Pennant has failed across most of England, so it comes as no surprise that he didnt succeed in his sole venture overseas. Once the Premierships most expensive teenager, when Arsenal prized him from Notts County for £2 million in 1999, Pennant has since wasted his once-sizeable potential at a host of different clubs. In July 2009, Pennant was finally cast aside by Liverpool, and was offered a three year deal by Spanish outfit Real Zaragoza. The Premier League club-hopper had described the transfer as something of an 'adventure', seemingly determined on cracking La Liga. Nothing of the sort transpired, as Pennant inevitably seemed more concerned with the Spanish nightclubs and fast-food restaurants. Never the most reliable footballer, having spent time behind bars, his professionalism was once again called into question by the coach, after he turned up late for training on three separate occasions. As a result the former Leeds United loanee spent the last three months training with the reserves, before returning to England, with his tail firmly tucked between his legs. Furthermore, the media would soon run stories on how the not-so-tricky winger 'forgot a Porsche', and had acquired a £480 ticket, having left it parked in Spain. Truly it was an episode to forget for the former FA Cup winner.
