8 Best Beards In Football History

1. Ásgeir Börkur Ásgeirsson

Yeovil Town v Huddersfield Town - Sky Bet Championship

Number one simply could not have gone to anyone else. I mean just look at that beard... just look at it! What a beauty! The man from Iceland literally looks like a Viking, a warrior of Odin, a resident of Valhalla, a drinker of mead and a eater of wilder-beast. He was also interestingly a former member of a heavy metal band.

His playing career is somewhat less remarkable, having spent the majority of his career in the Icelandic first division. And although he did have brief spells in the Norwegian and Swedish leagues, he has yet to receive a full international cap for Iceland.

This is obviously a travesty, a cap surely should be warranted just on the merit of his beard alone. Let us all hope and pray that Ásgeir will get a cap soon, and may his beard continue to grow.
