This entry is surprising mainly because The Axe Murderer, as Silva is affectionately known, had always seemed like a clean fighter. However, leading into UFC 175, where he was to meet the aforementioned Sonnen, Silva ran from a surprise drug test by the NSAC - literally running out the side door of his gym to avoid the test. Silva would claim that due to his poor English skills, he didn't understand what the NSAC tester wanted, but would later admit that he was knowingly using a banned substance to heal from a broken wrist stemming from an on-set scuffle at the Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 taping with Sonnen. Soap operas pay writers big money to come up with this stuff. Silva's fate remains unknown at this time. He believes he will fight again, but the UFC isn't so sure.
