Leading into a co-headling bout at UFC 175 in July, Chael Sonnen tested positive on two separate drug tests for performance enhancing drugs. It was Sonnen's second drug bust, as his first test failure came after his initial fight with Anderson Silva. Appearing before the NSAC at a disciplinary hearing, Sonnen was contrite and offered no excuses. He was banished from the sport for two years, though he had already announced his retirement from MMA. Since then, he has fought at Metamoris 4 (a Jiu-jitsu competition not governed by any athletic commission) and picked up a job doing commentary for Battlegrounds MMA, though he lost his broadcast position with FOX and the UFC. Make no mistake however, Sonnen will work with the company again down the road, though likely never as a fighter.
