8 Fighter Scandals That Rocked UFC In 2014

3. Will Chope

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeNw_wvIDJQ Just a few hours before his bout at UFC Fight Night 38, Will Chope was released from the UFC. Why? Back in 2009, after learning of his then-spouse's infidelity, he assaulted her on multiple occasions. Chope, then in the military, was given non-judicial punishment. Somehow, this little bit of background information eluded the UFC during their background check process (something we imagine is a UFC intern scanning the first page of Google results for a fighter's name). Addressing the issue at a media event in April 2014, Dana White stated " seems like a great guy and he's got his stuff together, but a few years ago he didn't sound like such a great guy. You put your hands on your girlfriend or your wife and you're accused of it. You beat her three times or whatever you did, that's a tough one to overcome." Chope's now ex-wife actually appeared in a video statement with the fighter asking White to reconsider, given they had become friends since their split and the incident was five years or so in the past. However, nothing came of it. Keep White's comments in mind when we get to the number one spot on this list.
