5. AC Milan (1991 - 92)

Under the management of future England gaffer Fabio Capello, AC Milan returned to glory and marched to the 1991/92 Italian league title unbeaten – a first in Serie A. It marked the first of three league titles on the bounce for the Rossoneri and formed part of a remarkable unbeaten run that stretched right into the next season, eventually totalling a mammoth 58 games.

Capello’s outfit was laden with international stars and legends of the game, from Dutch maestros Ruud Gullitt and top goalscorer Marco van Basten to Italian idols Carlo Ancelotti and Paolo Maldini. During this era, Milan reached an incredible three UEFA Champions League finals in a row (1993, 1994, and 1995), winning the 1994 tournament with a win over Barcelona.

Surprisingly, however, owing to a record of 22 wins and 12 draws during a period of two points for a win, Milan didn’t win the league by a huge margin during their invincible season. Runners-up Juventus finished just eight points being Il Diavolo, always hot on the heels of their Milanese rivals…
