5. Joe Hart Will Be Beaten From The Penalty Spot
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4tJGFuFZKA You have to question the thought process of the marketing team at Doritos when they green-lit this advert. Surely someone in the Doritos office must have an idea of the England teams relationship with the penalty shootout? Why, then, did they think it was a good idea for teams across the country to have been competing for the chance to put a penalty past Joe Hart? Unfortunately what happens looks like an unhappy foreshadowing of what will go down in Brazil. It depicts Hart in goal against a player that no one can name. The result is inevitable. At some point in the tournament this is bound to happen. It is written in the football stars that an Englishman cannot do well in a penalty shootout. So why highlight that point in the run up to a major tournament? Even the least superstitious amongst us would concede that this advert is tempting fate somewhat. Further still, the commentary doesnt even articulate repercussions of what Hart conceding a goal like this could mean. In fact, ts quite the opposite: the commentator celebrates. The only thing more terrifying to an England fan than this harrowing vision of the future is the return of the vuvuzela. God help us.
