8 Times Animals Invaded Formula 1
5. Seagulls - Canada (2016)
Again in Canada, Sebastian Vettel had a peculiar explanation for why he locked up going into turn one. After the race, he told reporters that some grub-grabbing seagulls almost befell a messy end when an unsuspecting Vettel cruised up towards them.
The German driver later described it as "the worst moment of my race." The pair managed to fly away just in time before they found out what the front wing of a Formula One car feels like. He invaded Lewis Hamilton's post-race interview to demand footage of the birds be brought up on the monitor, and talked about them again during an interview with Channel 4.
Vettel finished the race in second place, around five seconds behind race winner Hamilton. Valtteri Bottas finished third for Williams, his first and only podium of the 2016 season, and his last before joining Mercedes to partner Hamilton.
