The Canadian Grand Prix is regularly visited by some furry spectators. During the free practice sessions for the 2012 race, a number of drivers spotted a fox watching the cars race until it was forced to scamper away. Kimi Räikkönen, driving for Lotus at the time, was one of those who spotted the sly creature down at turn four. The Iceman also spied a particularly brave squirrel at turn eight later in the session.

The race itself was won by Lewis Hamilton, who became the seventh different winner from the first seven races - a new record in Formula One. He was joined on the podium by Romain Grosjean and Sergio Pérez, both drivers scoring their second ever podiums in Grand Prix racing. Räikkönen finished the race in 12th after his animal encounters.
