1. Siem And Luuk De Jong
Scott Heppell/AP/Press Association ImagesThough Luuk De Jong's time at Newcastle last season was far from eye-catching, it is hard to ignore the fact that the tall striker was hampered by a catastrophic drop in confidence after being pushed aside at Gladbach, where he initially joined over Newcastle. His loan at St James Park proved unfortunately goalless, and he appeared a shadow of the player who had scored 39 goals in 76 games for Twente, and it doesn't look likely that the club will take up the option to sign him permanently for the coming season despite the need to invest in strikers. His brother Siem however is now a Newcastle player, having penned a six year deal with the club and joining from Ajax, where he was the club captain. Fans will be hoping that he can bring his form from Holland to the North East, and will look back to his performances against Man City in last year's Champions League (in which he scored 3 goals over the two games) as indication of what he can offer.
nufc.co.ukIs he Yohan Cabaye's replacement? Is he seen as an attacker or a midfielder? Time will tell, but we can only hope he becomes one of the more successful brothers in Newcastle's playing history. Are you excited to see Siem De Jong play for Newcastle?
