Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd: 5 Lessons For The Red Devils

1. Nemanja Vidic Will Be Sorely Missed

Nemanja Vidic was rock solid at the back and was in contention for the Man of the Match trophy. His leadership, aerial ability and power will be missed, and though his age has led to a decline in terms of pace, he showed in this performance against Arsenal that he is still a world class centre back. Vidic recently announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season, with rumours surfacing that the likes of Inter Milan, Galatasaray and Monaco are interested parties. Performances such as this certainly do his chances of playing for a top club no harm, and his demands of £3 million per season after tax may not be so unrealistic. However the performance did show that Moyes will have a tough job in finding a player with the ability to fill the Serbian's shoes, and anyone who comes close to Vidic's ability will likely cost a heap of money. Eliaquim Mangala, Ezequiel Garay and Dante have all been linked with United recently, but the leadership of Vidic is also an attribute that needs replacing. Both Mangala and Dante are imposing figures in the air, but lack the top level experience that Vidic has. If Moyes cannot find an adequate replacement, United could struggle once again next season.
