Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd: 5 Lessons For The Red Devils

2. Juan Mata Shouldn't Be Utilised As A Winger

David Moyes has not learned his lesson. After playing Shinji Kagawa on the wing several times this season despite being a natural attacking midfielder, the Scot has done the exact same thing hitherto with the gifted midfielder Juan Mata. It is not that Moyes lacks options on the wing, with Young, Valencia, Januzaj and Nani being more than capable. As mentioned in the slide before, playing the Spaniard out of position will do his confidence no good. It is clear that lack of game time has impacted his fitness ability, and playing him in a position that demands pace and stamina is harmful. Mata needs time to settle before he can put in the performances we are used to seeing, and which led to his £37.1 million price tag. If Moyes can utilise Mata in the correct way, perhaps he will flourish in a United shirt. Until then, he may struggle to put in the fine displays we've become accustomed to seeing from the Red Devils' record signing.
