Arsenal emerged as the victors from this season's first North London derby - a single goal from Olivier Giroud midway through the first half was enough to see off rivals Spurs - and the match was an eye-opener for both teams and their sets of fans. Spurs have spent an awful lot of money - upwards of £100 million - this summer while Arsenal have been relatively quiet in the transfer market, but they still managed to take 3 points from their old enemy. It was a very close and entertaining encounter and, in the same way Spurs shouldn't be too disappointed, Arsenal shouldn't be too over-confident because one victory does not a season make.
