This was not Tottenham Hotspur at their best, by any stretch of the imagination, and the reason for that is twofold: 1) Their newest signings were not available to start the match. 2) Even their previous summer signings are still getting used to their new team-mates and the demands of the English Premier League. This is still very much a Spurs team in a period of transition, so to come away as mere 1-0 losers from this match is nothing to be ashamed of. Erik Lamela looked very promising in his cameo in this game, while Christian Eriksen will come in and potentially add the creative spark that seems to be the main missing element of Spurs' tactics thus far this season. When Spurs are settled as a cohesive unit, things will definitely improve for them.
