Arsenal: 5 Reasons They'll Win Nothing More Under Wenger

4. Style Of Play

Arsenal are renowned for keeping possession, passing through the midfield, and frustrating the opposition with a style of play that brings many plaudits. But now that the rest of the Premier League has cottoned on to this, they get harried and chased and forced into making mistakes. The current Arsenal squad simply doesn't have the type of gifted talent to hold the ball while under pressure. Henry, Bergkamp, Gilberto and Pires were all 'Invincibles', and truly gifted players - they could do as much with the ball in position and under-pressure as they could with open field in front of them. But, they have now gone, and in their place are players like Diaby, Cazorla, Arteta and Wilshere (when fit). They simply aren't of the same calibre, no matter how much praise some of them attract. Arteta was never a suitable replacement for Fabregas, and though Jack Wilshere is one of very few shining lights at the Emirates, he has some severe fitness concerns. And while fit, being expected to shoulder the considerable burden of being 'the main man' is too much pressure for one player. The fact that there is no plan B at Arsenal leaves them with little chance of winning anything under Wenger. The game is so tactical now, an opposition manager will often play a certain player just to nullify the Arsenal midfield and disrupt play, and unfortunately, Arsenal have no answer to this, and end the game the same way they started it, trying to pass the opposition to death.
