3. The Gap
Manchester United have (in the main) always been ahead of Arsenal in every aspect of the game, from the fan base, through the financial clout, to the better squad, and even though they built a glorious new stadium in the Emirates, Old Trafford holds more. In the modern game, sponsors play a huge part in a club's ability to sign players and pay the wages these players demand. And the further your team falls, the further the gulf in financial abilities takes its toll. Chelsea, Manchester City and also Tottenham have made huge steps in the Premier League in recent times, with the latter thriving under the guidence of AVB and the unstoppable Gareth Bale. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich won't stand still in any transfer window, which must infuriate Arsenal fans even more, and Manchester City will surely spend another obscene amount of money come the summer. Quite how many of the Arsenal players that have the ability to be a first choice at any of these clubs is anyone's guess, but if City or Chelsea wanted a top Arsenal talent like Wilshere, they would have the money to simply pick him off. The longer Arsenal fail to make up ground, the more likely that will be.
