2. History Is On Their Side
If there's one thing that Arsenal have on their side over their 4th place adversaries this season, is their illustrious Premier League history. This may seem like quite a lame advantage to have, seeing as though Arsenal haven't won a trophy for 7 years, however as I've already mentioned, Arsenal have not failed to finish within the top 4 in any season with Arsene Wenger as manager. So that's roughly 15 years of Arsenal monopolizing a Champions League place. Moreover, Arsenal have won the Premier League title an impressive three times, that's triple the amount of titles that Tottenham have managed. Despite these impressive stats, every year skeptics emerge stating that this'll be the season when Arsenal lose out on the top 4, but every year these accusations are proved wrong by Wenger and his team. Arsenal just seem to have a knack for being able to do it year in year out, a knack they've acquired over time as a result of their exceptional history under Wenger. Unfortunately, the same record cannot be said of Tottenham, Liverpool, Man City or Chelsea for that matter, whose Premier League positions have fluctuated considerably compared to that of Arsenal's. What the Gunners lack in cutting edge, they make up for in consistency. Of course there have been criticisms of Wenger for being seemingly content with a 4th place finish, however I'm sure he will want to progress from this position, to laying down a decent challenge for the title. Having said this, with the current squad he has at his disposal, a Champions League place seems as high as Arsenal will accomplish.
