5. Wojciech Szczsny
The Arsenal No.1 had a troubled campaign last season. The Polish goalkeeper suffered from a worrying loss of form in the latter half of the season, making a number of high-profile errors that led to him being dropped for Arsenal's second leg Champions League clash with Bayern Munich in March. He then found himself displaced by ukasz Fabiaski between the sticks and even had to make
a grovelling apology to manager Arsene Wenger after his father accused the Gunners boss of using his son as a scapegoat for the club's poor season. As the season reached its dramatic finale, it looked as though Szczsny would not retain his place in Wenger's starting XI, however, after Fabiaski suffered a rib injury, he was once more called upon. There has been much talk this summer about the Londoners
buying in a new goalkeeper but so far nothing has come of these claims - perhaps because Wenger remains confident in the players he has or because he has yet to find a keeper who represents good value for money. Whatever the case, Szczesny is prepared to fight for his place in the team and we expect the 23-year-old to bounce back next season. "Even if the boss was to make a big signing in goal, I would do my very best to compete for the No1 spot," Szczesny said.
"I'd do my best for the club whatever my position. The club is in my heart and I wouldn't be thinking about going elsewhere."
