3. If Selling, Sell Now
Arsenal have developed a habit of, to be frank, ballsing up the contract situations of their players. Opening talks begin too late, when time is running out on the contracts, handing power to the agents. They offer relatively big wages for unfulfilled potential, creating a wage bill that is over a million pounds a week higher than their North London rivals Tottenham, but then baulk at paying their top players top money. And the icing on the cake is that despite introducing a training and diet regime that extended the careers of the likes of Tony Adams, Ian Wright, and David Seaman, they only offer one year deals to players 30 and over. Sagna is not a good enough player to break that policy. Having been backed into a corner over the futures of Samir Nasri, Robin van Persie, and now Theo Walcott, Arsenal need to grab the nettle and own their own future. Plus, if they want to recuperate any money they need to sell Sagna before prospective buyers decide its easier and cheaper to sit tight for another year and pick the Sens-born right back up on a free. From Sagnas responses so far it is clear Arsenals offer is far from acceptable, and Arsenals history has shown there is little room for manoeuvre, so put Sagna on the market now, get the best price possible, and make solid plans for the future.
