Arsenal Transfers: 10 Players Arsene Wenger Should Never Have Signed
5. Kim Kallstrom
The January 2014 loan signing of Kim Kallstrom – pronounced ‘Shellstrom’ if TV commentators are to be believed – seemed bizarre and unnecessary in the extreme.
A midfield injury crisis forced Arsene Wenger into the transfer market, with little quality to choose from.
Therefore, he set his sights on an experienced international to beef up his options, but somehow ended up with yet another crocked footballer with a chronic back injury.
Reports had it said that the back problem was caused by Kallstrom inability to execute an overhead kick on an Abu Dhabi beach, leaving Wenger to either complete the deal regardless, or go empty-handed for the remainder of the campaign.
In truth, he’d have been better off without the Swede, who chalked up a meagre four appearances before his underwhelming temporary stay expired.
