Arsenal Transfers: 4 Signings To Bring Back League Glory

4. Etienne Capoue

Etienne Capoue The Gunners are in desperate need of a defensive midfielder who can provide cover for the over-exposed Arsenal defence. Arsenal had problems long before, but after the summer sale of former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, the defence look even more exposed than ever. And while Song didn€™t provide total protection, his loss has been noticable this season, with no-one stepping into the breach to adequately fill his shoes. Yes, Arteta can play there, but he is far better with more freedom, and Arsenal need a gritty established defensive midfielder to play as an anchor on the pitch, protecting the defence as well as starting attacks from deep. Etienne Capoue would be more than a good solution. The highly rated French enforcer is a natural defensive midfielder who can also play in defence too, and his tough tackling and physical presence would permit Arsenal the much needed strength in front of defence. He has been linked with a move to North London before, as far back as July last year, when Arsene Wenger was said to be considering a £9.5million move by the Mail, as an alternative to Yann M'Vila.
