4. Simon Mignolet
Sunderland didn't enjoy the best of season's this year but the one ray of light that has shone through at the Stadium of Light - save for
that resounding defeat over Newcastle - was the performances of Simon Mignolet. At just 25, the young Belgian international is viewed as one of the most promising up-and-coming young goalkeepers in Europe three years after being signed by Steve Bruce for just £2 million from Sint-Truiden. Since then he's emerged as one of the Premier League's more accomplished goalkeepers and Wenger has had the player watched repeatedly by his scouts. So impressed by the reports they brought back, the Frenchman's
reportedly prepared to table a £10 million offer for the youngster, and though the Black Cats would be reticent to sell, they must surely at least contemplate the thought of an £8 million return on the keeper as manager Paolo Di Canio plans ahead for next season.
