Arsenal Transfers: 5 Key Players Whose Contracts Are Ending Soon

4. Bacary Sagna (2014)

The French full back's situation at the club has become uncertain due to his recent reluctance to sign a new deal. He may however have changed his mind more recently considering how well the Gunners are doing, but the contract extension is still in the air at the moment. The France international could easily quit the club in the summer, with Wenger reportedly on the lookout for a new right back to provide competition for Carl Jenkinson, Dortmund's Lukas Piszczek has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners in light of the fact that Sagna could be on his way when the transfer window comes round, and the Polish international would provide the same solidity that Sagna has given to the role on the right of the defence. Whether it is the right decision to let Sagna go is another matter entirely, with the former Auxerre man having been one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League since he joined the club back in 2007. The fact that the defender has now turned 30 could be the delay in signing a new deal, and Wenger's policy with players of this age could be playing on Sagna's mind, and the Frenchman could well be on his way in the summer if he gets the right offer, leaving Arsenal short at the back and with no transfer fee to show for it.
