1. The Dawn Of A New Era
As said in the intro, Wanyama could be the catalyst. He could show that Wenger and Arsenal had found their direction again, that they knew the type of players they wanted, they knew what the team needed, and they did not wait to act. He is likely to be a significant investment, but he will not break the bank, and crucially his signing would be a statement of intent, that Arsenal have signed a player others wanted, rather looking at the best of the whats left. That the board and manager are not afraid to spend money, but they are not desperate. This message will be reinforced if Wenger brings in similar players in terms of age, ability, and experience. Should they miss out on the Champions League it will be a blow, but it need not prove fatal. Signing Victor Wanyama not only offers Wenger something his side is sorely lacking, but it also fits in with the image Arsenal as a club want to portray, namely that they are financial responsibly will also trying to bring top, young talent to the club. With a good core already at the club, Wenger needs only to bring in four or five key signings while ridding himself of deadwood. Wanyamas signing would be a good place to start.
