Arsenal Transfers: 5 Strikers Arsene Wenger Could Sign In January

4. Jackson Martinez

Jackson Martinez, like Yilmaz, enjoyed a very successive 2012-13 season. Following his summer move to Porto in 2012, the Colombian has been in fine form. The Portuguese club are renowned for their brilliant scouting in South America and it appears they have unearthed another hidden gem in Martinez. The striker was in prolific form last season, finding the net 34 times in 43 games in all competitions. He was the top scorer in the Primeira Liga, finishing the campaign with 26 goals. The Colombian has continued his goal-scoring form this season, proving that he is not just a flash in the pan. Martinez already has nine goals in 10 games this season, prompting many of Europe's top clubs to be linked with the Porto player. Their interest is hardly surprising. Martinez is a classic centre forward, able to finish with both feet and a real threat in the air. He is a goal scorer, and one who is used to playing in the lone striker position €“ something that will no doubt please Arsene Wenger. At 27, Martinez is entering the peak years of his career. He would provide Arsenal with a proven goal scorer, who has the physicality to adapt to the English game.
