Arsenal Transfers Failure: 10 Deals Wenger Should Have Completed

6. Papiss Cisse

Frankly, Arsenal's interest here was simply bizarre. An out of form, out of favour striker who the club were willing to get rid of. Yet still Arsenal failed to get their man. It's laughable. We know what the sticking point here was. Arsenal wanted to loan, Newcastle wanted to sell. Surely though you would make a move. It's last minute and you're out of options. Better than nothing. Well, Arsene Wenger chose nothing. He decided he would rather have little options up front than sign Cisse. Arsenal are notoriously frustrating in negotiating a deal but it's come back to bite them. I'm not saying I wanted Cisse at Arsenal and I'm not saying he would do well but given the circumstances surrounding the player Wenger really should have been able to see this one through.
