Burnley: 10 Things You Need To Know About Sean Dyche
10. Hes A Big Man
Physically imposing, Dyche looks like he means business with firm face, strong eyes, and cropped hair. When he enters a room you sit up and take notice. I used to be a headmaster, and could definitely have done with a bit of that aura. He has that indefinable thing called presence. Some people have it and some people dont, but its rare. Some people come in a room and you carry on reading the paper or chatting to someone; with Sean you dont. Its not something he demands - he isnt like that - but its just something he has, call it persona, aura, maybe. At the final job interview what impressed the two chairmen and CEO was that he stood straight and tall, energetic and exuberant, to give a PowerPoint presentation. He didnt slouch in a chair like some of the others. It was impressive, they said: he sold and presented himself well. When I met him, mingling at Yeovil, what struck me was how approachable he is. And humorous: anyone who has seen him on Soccer A.M. will know how jocular and self-deprecating he can be. When Luca Toni the impossibly good-looking and hunky Italian World Cup star came with Verona to Burnley for a friendly, Dyche said yeh, I noticed that and went quite dreamy-eyed. When Billy Davies after a game against Burnley said he had dozens of injuries Dyche smiled; Yeh, hes down to his last 35 players.
